BREAKING: Four-Star QB Colton Nussmeier Ruled Ineligible at Denton Ryan

ROUND ROCK – The UIL State Executive Committee declared four-star quarterback and Georgia Bulldogs commit Colton Nussmeier ineligible for varsity competition at Denton Ryan on Thursday by a 4-1 vote. Nussmeier is eligible to return to Flower Mound Marcus to play varsity football.

Nussmeier, the son of New Orleans Saints offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier and younger brother of current Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Garrett Nussmeier, was a unanimous First Team All-District quarterback selection as a junior at Flower Mound Marcus. This spring, the Nussmeier family put their house in the Flower Mound Marcus attendance zone on the market and purchased a rental home in Denton Ryan's attendance zone. Nussmeier enrolled at Denton Ryan for the spring 2026 semester. Flower Mound Marcus head coach Mike Alexander checked the box on Nussmeier's Previous Athletic Participation Form, indicating he believed the quarterback had transferred for athletic purposes. That move elevated Nussmeier's case to the District 3-5A DI Executive Committee earlier this summer, but the group was gridlocked in a 3-3 vote on whether or not Nussmeier transferred for athletic purposes. The split vote brought the matter to the UIL State Executive Committee.
