Breaking: Eric Morris to become next head coach at Oklahoma State

Eric Morris has accepted the head coach position at Oklahoma State, sources confirm to Dave Campbell’s Texas Football. Oklahoma State fired long-time head coach Mike Gundy during his 21st season on the job after the Cowboys started 1-2 and lost to Tulsa early in 2025. He won 170 games, one conference championship and four division titles in his stint in Stillwater.

Morris, who became the head coach at North Texas ahead of the 2023 season, has his Mean Green on the doorstep of an American Conference championship and a trip to the College Football Playoff. They are 10-1 on the season with a home game against Temple and are likely the G5 representative in the playoffs if they win that game and beat Temple in the AC Championship game. Morris will coach the remaining games for the Mean Green this season.
