Rebuilding Sam Houston Faces Tough Journey in Phil Longo's First Year
The Sam Houston Bearkats will play home games off campus and travel to Hawaii, Texas, and Oregon State in Phil Longo's first year in charge

Sam Houston was forced to hit the reset button after an impressive 10-win campaign last year in just the program’s second season in the FBS. The Bearkats were one win away from the Conference USA championship game but lost longtime head coach K.C. Keeler to Temple after the season.
Former offensive coordinator Phil Longo was hired as a replacement, but not until most of his team was in the transfer portal. Making matters more difficult, Bowers Stadium is under construction in a fitting bit of irony, as the rebuilding Bearkats will play at Shell Energy Stadium in Houston during 2025.
