There may not be a region in all the state regardless of classification as wide open as 2A-Division I Region II as there’s far from one team who stands out as the team to beat. That should make the playoff race quite intriguing once we get to November.
DeLeon gets the edge over Coleman in 5-2A Division I as the Bearcats return nine starters on both sides of the ball from a team that made the area playoffs a year ago. Coleman has consistently been in the playoff mix the past few years, but they did lose some key pieces after going 9-3 a year ago. Hamilton on paper looks strong, two years after a surprise regional semifinal run, the Bulldogs look poised to return to form with fourteen starters back. Hico is also fresh off the area round of the playoffs they should have enough to hold off what will be a much-improved Ballinger squad.
