Gunter, who has the state’s longest winning streak at 31-games has won the regional title an incredible eight straight years and 46 of their last 47 games over the past three years. Is there anyone in the region that can slow the Tigers down? The odds are stacked as Gunter on paper looks as strong as ever. The only real question is can Gunter remain healthy against a brutal non-district slate that includes games against Celina, Anna and Sanger.
Tolar, who moves up from Class 2A-Division I after playing for a state title a year ago should have enough in the tank to hold off a tough Clifton squad in 5-3A Division II. Eastland and Brady both bring back plenty of experience from teams that made the playoffs a year ago, while Early went through a late coaching change and the loss of a really good young signal caller who transferred when his dad was hired at another school.
