Schedule Analysis: Texas Tech Red Raiders
Joey McGuire enters Year 3 at Texas Tech as the Red Raiders hope to crash the Big 12 party with favorable schedule

Texas Tech has finished with a winning record in conference play two years in a row for the first time since 2008-09. In fact, Joey McGuire is the first head coach in Red Raider history to post a winning record in conference play in each of his first two seasons in Lubbock since Steve Sloan in the 1970s. The next goal for Texas Tech is compete for a conference championship – something that hasn’t happened since 1976 when Sloan was the head coach.
The only thing slowing down Texas Tech thus far in the McGuire era are bad starts and a poor road record. The schedule sets up for the Red Raiders to buck the trend and start fast. The ceiling will be determined by how many wins the squad can earn away from Jones Stadium.
