SFA parts with OC, longtime Carthel assistant
Stephen F. Austin offensive coordinator Matt Storm will not return in 2024, the longtime Colby Carthel assistant posted on Twitter/X. Storm has been on the same staff with Carthel since 2012, which includes three different schools.
Stephen F. Austin head coach Colby Carthel is set to do something he hasn’t done since the beginning of his career as a head coach. Carthel is searching for a new offensive coordinator after his longtime assistant, Matt Storm, announced his departure on Twitter/X.
The two first worked together on staff at West Texas A&M in 2012. The following season, Carthel became the head coach at Texas A&M-Commerce and hired Storm to be his offensive coordinator. They led the Lions to the 2017 NCAA Division II national title. Storm followed Carthel to Nacogdoches in 2018 and helped lead the Lumberjacks to the Western Athletic Conference championship last season.
