In a landscape of narratives, Texas A&M can flip the script with a win over Alabama
Texas A&M Aggies, Jimbo Fisher can reset expectations, narratives with victory over Alabama Crimson Tide, Nick Saban in Week 6

College football is a sport of narratives. What happens in our mind is as important, and often more important, than what truly happens on the football field. Ask Georgia and Michigan. Those two teams top the current AP Poll despite not proving a single thing on the football field other than they’re much better than average competition. Texas A&M (4-1) isn’t ranked despite moving to 2-0 in SEC play with dominant wins over Auburn and Arkansas.
The reason that Georgia is still No. 1 despite struggling with that same Auburn team a week later is the same one that kept the Aggies from crawling back into the top 25 – perception. Texas A&M entered 2021 and 2022 ranked sixth in the nation only to tumble out of the rankings in disappointing campaigns. The same people who vote in that poll spent the entire offseason questioning Jimbo Fisher’s future, his ability to connect with new offensive coordinator Bobby Petrino, and the Wrecking Crew defense led by DJ Durkin.
