It’s a top 10 matchup in 4A-Division I that may fly under the radar in a loaded Week 1 slate in DFW, but for entertainment value, this showdown will be up there with any game in the state.
Decatur got off to a slow start a year ago under first-year head coach Steve Huff, but the Eagles got hot late in the year and rolled all the way to the state semifinals. RB Nate Palmer, a TCU commit, is back to lead the offense after putting up over 2,200 yards in 2022; ATH Landon Felts likely will move to the QB spot to pace the Eagles offense after a stellar season at WR. Decatur’s defense does have a few holes to fill but LB Wyatt Vinzant and DB Antwan Gilbreath are great building blocks.
