Two teams knew they were in the NCAA Division III men’s basketball tournament when the bracket was released on Monday afternoon. East Texas Baptist won the automatic bid from the American Southwest Conference on Saturday. At the same time, Schreiner finished a magical run to the tournament by winning the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference tournament on Sunday.

Two other teams were forced to wait until the bracket was nearly complete before hearing their names called. Mary Hardin-Baylor and St. Thomas received at-large bids to the tournament, with the Crusaders selected to host the first two rounds beginning on Friday.
