La Grange's Kates resigns after 13 seasons
La Grange High School head football coach Matt Kates has announced his resignation after 13 seasons leading the Leopards.

After 13 seasons leading the La Grange Leopards, head coach Matt Kates announced his resignation on Tuesday afternoon, leaving one of the more attractive jobs in Central Texas in 4A-Division II vacant.
Kates had an impressive 13 season stint at La Grange posting an 86-61 overall record and leading the Leopards to the playoffs in nine of those seasons. His two best seasons where back-to-back 13-1 campaigns in 2013-2014, those teams featured RB J.K. Dobbins, who played at Ohio State and is now in the NFL with the Baltimore Ravens.
