Former Texas A&M pledge, five-star Denton Ryan linebacker Anthony Hill flips to rival Texas Longhorns

Texas Longhorns land commitment from five-star linebacker Anthony Hill

The Texas Longhorns and Texas A&M Aggies don't need to be in the same conference to wage battles on the recruiting front. Steve Sarkisian's program won the latest battle when five-star linebacker Anthony Hill announced his commitment to the Longhorns weeks after backing away from his pledge to the Aggies. The Denton Ryan product is a five-star from Denton Ryan who originally committed to Texas A&M back in July. A 3-6 start in the 2022 season by the Aggies combined with Texas' rise to Big 12 contention and eventual move to the SEC was enough for Hill to flip.

Hill registered 105 tackles, including 11 for loss and three sacks. He also broke up three passes , forced two fumbles, recovered three, and came up with two interceptions. He returned one of those fumble recoveries for a touchdown. Hill had 105 tackles as a sophomore in 2020 for a state championship team. The Longhorns are working on Westlake edge rusher Colton Vasek from his Oklahoma pledge.
