Baylor bests Texas Tech in Big 12 battle of familiar foes
Richard Reese, Blake Shapen lead Baylor Bears over Behren Morton, Joey McGuire and the Texas Tech Red Raiders.

LUBBOCK – Richard Reese and a greedy defense were enough for the Baylor Bears to outlast Texas Tech, 45-17, on Saturday night at AT&T Jones Stadium. There was plenty of familiarity on the field with around a dozen of Texas Tech’s staff, including first-year head coach Joey McGuire, spending time at Baylor previously. But it was Dave Aranda who reigned supreme.
The Bears moved to 5-3 on the season and 3-2 in the Big 12, preserving an outside shot at a return to the conference championship game with pivotal contests with Kansas State and TCU still on the schedule. Texas Tech is 4-4 overall and 2-3 in the Big 12. This was the first home loss in five tries for McGuire as a college head coach.
