Texas’ Jaylan Ford receives Big 12 Player of the Week honors
Longhorns linebacker Jaylan Ford named Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week

Texas Longhorns junior LB Jaylan Ford was named Big 12 Conference Defensive Player of the Week for his role in Texas’ 24-21 victory against Iowa State. Ford was a ball magnet as he recorded his first career interception on Cyclones quarterback Hunter Dekkers in the endzone in the 2nd quarter, then recovered a fumble by Dekkers in the 4th quarter, effectively ending the game. Ford also recorded 8 tackles, putting him at 66 tackles on the season, a career-high.
Texas snapped a three-game losing streak to the Cyclones. The Longhorns (5-2, 3-1) make their way back into the college rankings just in time for it to matter as No.20 Texas will travel to Stillwater, OK to take on the No.11 Oklahoma State Cowboys. The Cowboys are fresh off of their 43-40 double-overtime loss to No.8 TCU. This will mark the 37th time that Texas will face off against the Cowboys as kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m. CT. on Oct. 22. As for Iowa State (3-4, 0-4) who started red hot with a 3-0 start, they will look to regroup during their open week. Their next game will be against the struggling Oklahoma Sooners on Oct. 29.
