BIG School Mega Preview: Atascocita at Katy, Harker Heights at Smithson Valley, Guyer at Aledo and more!

Midland Legacy (1-0) vs Amarillo Tascosa (1-0) at Buffalo Stadium: Midland Legacy showed no signs of slowing down on offense last week as the Rebels rolled to a convincing 47-21 win over Amarillo High. QB Marcos Davila led the Midland Legacy offense that rolled up 512 yards and scored 41-straight points after falling behind 7-0 early.  The junior QB with multiple FBS offers ended the night with 320 yards passing and five touchdowns. Amarillo Tascosa’s defense lived up to the hype in their opener as THS rolled past AISD rival Amarillo Palo Duro 35-7. Talented sophomore WR TJ Tillman opened some eyes for Tascosa in the win with 150 yards of offense and two touchdowns. Tascosa’s ground oriented offense is still trying to find their footing and with TCU commit DE Avion Carter likely not to play this week after suffering an injury last week, Midland Legacy’s offense could be too much for Tascosa to handle. Stepp’s Pick: Midland Legacy by 9

North Crowley (1-0) at Arlington (1-0): The Ray Gates era got off to a strong start for North Crowley as the Panthers rolled to a 50-12 win over Arlington Sam Houston, things get much tougher this week as NCHS tangles with Arlington High who won a 40-37 thriller over Mesquite. North Crowley’s offense tallied 509 yards last week in the win as QB Chris Jimmerson threw for 249 yards and five touchdowns and he added another 63 yards and a touchdown rushing for the Panthers in the victory. Arlington got a big effort from RB Drelon Burton in the win as he ran for 126 yards and three touchdowns, while adding in 92 receiving yards and a touchdown. Expect a hotly contested matchup as these two look even on paper, the difference is North Crowley’s defense, they’ll find ways to generate a couple of stops in key moments. Stepp’s Pick: North Crowley by 8
