Focus 2023: Melissa OT Trevor Goosby an Up and Comer with Multiple College Ties
Melissa, Texas – Argyle and Melissa faced each other last week in a battle of Top 10 teams in 4A-DI. The two District 7 programs that are used to putting up points instead found themselves in a grinder. Amid this rock fight, several names in the trenches flashed in big ways, including a tall offensive tackle with tons of upside.

The Melissa Cardinals entered Friday’s game as underdogs against an opponent they had previously never defeated. By halftime, Melissa had separated themselves from a top-ranked Argyle by a 21-point margin. And that’s all they would need as the Cardinals won by a final score of 21-0. In doing so, Melissa snapped Argyle’s 60-game winning streak in the regular season. The state’s longest at the time. Along with that streak being snapped, Melissa also handed the Eagles their first district loss since 2009. A 61-game win streak.
In the process of getting this winning result, Melissa 2023 OT Trevor Goosby (6’6, 250) really shined on the Cardinals offensive line. As a transfer from Dallas Woodrow Wilson this past offseason, Goosby has been plugged into the left tackle role in a fairly swift process. In his short time with his new program, he’s become a pivotal leader and talent in fueling Melissa’s offensive success.
