Dave Campbell's Texas Football surveyed over 360 Texas high school football coaches about various topics, including their thoughts on the Texas Longhorns and Oklahoma Sooners leaving the Big 12 for the SEC.
It's Crap! |
No thoughts |
Don't like it |
good for them |
AA |
No! |
Not cool, will ruin Big 12 |
Good business move |
Good move |
Cool |
good luck in the SEC |
Doesnt change much to me |
Not in favor of it, but understand the reasoning |
Great Move |
Bound to happen with NIL - will only increase with a super conference of have vs have nots |
not good for college football |
Greedy |
I don't blame them, its about money and competition |
Don't do it |
Good for them |
None |
not good |
I don't like it. I'm going to miss the Big 12. |
Don't care |
looks like a good thing - will make for some awesome rivalries moving forward |
EXCITING |
It happens. Money drives everything |
go ahead |
N/A |
Sure. They know where the money is. |
Awesome |
Love it |
good. |
Good for them |
More exposure but keeps the red river game going! |
Don't Care |
Good for them, bad for the college football |
Good for SEC |
Against it |
Wished they would not |
Will destroy the Big 12, Texas will never win the conference |
None |
Don't care |
Love it, brilliant business move. |
Don't care |
Sad to see, but understand the reason |
It was going to happen at some point. |
It sucks, it will degrade or destroy a Texas based conference |
Who gives a crap! |
Bad for the state, Good for their pocket books. |
College football is all about money, and that's what this move is all about. Will be good to see Texas and A&M back together again. This move sets the stage for the top 64 teams to break away from the NCAA. |
That is what is best for their kids and their universities |
don't like |
Money talks |
I don't like it. SEC is too big. Everyone is going to be SEC. They still going to have to divide them some how. |
don't know enough of the information to have an informed decision. I do like UT-A&M playing again. |
I thinks its good |
Texas cannot handle their own business so they destroy conferences in the process. |
Love It |
don't let the door hit them in the a** |
I love it; go to 4 Super Conferences, 12 team playoff, 2 automatic qualifiers from non-Super Conferences |
Love it, makes them have to compete with better are similar programs |
Not good |
I think it would be great for the state of Texas |
Not Good |
All about the money |
Great for SEC |
Bad for college football and we are going to lose all of the texas regional matchups |
Went due to recruiting, money, heightened national stage-good with it |
indifferent |
Bad for college football…don’t like mega conferences |
Texas has money but a bloated opinion of themselves, OU should be able to compete. Big 12 is done without them. |
Hurts Big 12 football but benefits college football |
Don't care |
I think its good |
To each their own. |
Hate it. Not a fan |
Doesn’t matter to me |
Takes money to make money, if you have it you are a power broker in a money industry. |
NA |
I think it's a good thing. We get to see UT and A&M go at it all the while seeing if they can hang in the SEC. Recruits will also be more likely to choose UT. |
If it keeps more Texas kids in Texas, I like it |
I have none |
Great for Saturday afternoons for college football fans. |
Disappointing |
Takes money to make money, if you have it you are a power broker in a money industry. |
bad |
don't care |
Get it on |
I hate it |
Good for them and great for college football. Bad for the others in the big 12 |
Good for them |
Great |
Regardless the major universities are all going to leave the NCAA eventually and form their own association. |
Saw it Coming |
Ok |
Not good! Lessens their power. Money will be great, prestige will suffer. Probably opposite of what they think. Because they are in the Big 12 it has given them a better chance to get to the playoff. They will suffer by changing conferences just like Nebraska, Colorado and others have. |
Don’t care |
They need to stay in the Big 12 |
Indifferent |
Love it |
I think that it is terrible for College football. The conference will dissolve, the power of balance of the SEC and ESPN will ruin what is left of college football. There is no purity in the sport anymore and the ideas of team, commitment, and staying in the face of adversity will be pantheons of the past. The idea of the rich get richer is going to be prevalent in all things now with money being the driving factor of all decisions. Cheating will be rampant and the sport will forever be changed in a negative way. |
Leaving the top of the conference to be mediocre doesn’t make much sense |
It will not be good for the remaining schools of the Big 12 |
Stupid |
Be careful what you wish for. If they had been better stewards of the Big 12, maybe they wouldn't need to leave for greener pastures |
unfortunate |
It was inevitable |
Don't care |
A little surprising but considering the Big XII has been only 10 teams for so long, I think UT & OU being the biggest names in the conference have outgrown the conference at this point and need to move on. |
Not happy |
It is all about MONEY |
No thoughts |
For It |
Dont like it |
Its was and is gonna happen |
SEC SEC SEC |
It will bring back A&M and Texas rivalry .... lets gooo |
Go for it |
Money talks |
Good move for them |
Great |
Hate to see it happen, but best move for both. |
Thumbs Up |
It will be good for Oklahoma and bad for Texas |
Good decision |
I like it |
CFB is positioning itself to be a major league system for the NFL. I think a super conference is on the way, which will be like AAA ball or the 40 man roster in MLB. |
Nice |
great |
I'm good with it. |
I think it’s good |
Fine with it |
Who cares |
College Football is changing,, it always does |
Not good |
Good |
Like to see it happen or A&M come back |
It happens. Money drives everything |
it's a good move. The Big 12 had a chance to grow their conference to a Mega Conference and decided against it (I don't know all details) |
All about money |
LOVE IT |
Indifferent |
Good move for them, but bad for the rest of the Big 12 |
Not good |
Surprises me |
Who cares?! |
It happens. Money drives everything |
bring back the old SWC - but this will help both |
Disappointing |
Hate it but understand it. Thrilled that it bothers A&M. |
Will be a good move to a better conference |
Surprised, upset, understand |
should not move |
Good |
Don’t like it |
Not good for the teams left behind. The Era of Super conferences is coming |
Hate it |
If your going to be Dumb you better be Tough!! |
Don't leave |
The end of the Big 12 |
Great--- They are going get crushed! |
dont care |
Good for College Football |
Very displeased |
Excited about it |
no comment |
I am worried that all the biggest brands are in the same conference. |
Good move for them |
Hate it for the Big 12 |
Great |
I dont see the benefit. |
Good for them, don’t think it improves their odds of playing for a natty though. |
It is about money. |
Everybody does what they think is best for them. Good Luck! |
Honestly I do not have a strong opinion either way |
Hate it |
Good for SEC, bad for Texas. |
OH Well |
Don't like it |
Its going to get interesting in college football. |
I get why they did it. However, I'm not sure it will be good for college football as a whole. |
They should stay in Big 12 |
Like the change, it will be fun to watch Texas and Okie compete in the SEC |
Who give a crap.. |
$$$$ |
wish conferences remained regional |
minimal |
Bye |
Love it |
Really not a big deal! College football has changed so much! It is a business now! We have free agents now and paying players about who has the money has taken it over. |
Not a fan |
Whats the point in a national championship? SEC Champs....Champs |
I like it |
It's a good move for their respective schools. |
Don't like it. |

I believe it is best for both university but hare on the rest of the conf. |
Bad for Big 12 |
Fine by me |
I don't like it. |
No-we’ll see how the next 10 years fairs for them ?? |
Awful |
NONE |
Not a good move. Interesting to see what's going to happen to the Big 12 |
Doesn't matter to me |
Bad for CFB |
The first of many changes. This will begin the super conference movement. They were smart to be proactive. |
I think it’s a bad idea |
Great |
All good |
Money moves the needle, if you think that move is about anything other than money your crazy |
The death of the Big 12. |
Money talks, ironic UT money is what drove A&M out and 10 years later and UT is following for the same reason |
It was only a matter of time |
I like it |
Can’t wait for aTm vs UT |
Excited about it |
Bad |
Excited |
Who cares? |
Hurts big 12 |
Pathetic |
They make choices that are best for them. Looks like they made a good one. |
Not good for the Big 12. |
I think it is necessary… over the years the SEC has been talked up so much in the media that the recruiting has been really tilted to the SECs favor. I’m all for blue bloods battle it out every year. Hoping for a more expansive playoff system in the near future. |
DI football will split into 3 categories soon. Semi Pro, DI BCS DI FCS |
It makes the Big 12 extremely weak |
Love it |
Crushes the Big 12. Money has become to much and they could just add Houston and SMU and do just fine. They will find themselves just a above 500 team and struggle to get into the play-off system. |
Love it |
Good and bad. Eventually good and good for recruiting and money. Tough early on because both programs are used to winning a lot of games a year and it may drop to 6-7 a year. |
I think its good for those programs |
Amazing News |
Its going to kill the Big 12, but hopefully will renew the A&M vs Texas rivalry. |
Good for them |
I am all for it. |
Business is Business |
I don't have a strong opinion |
Great for the SEC, better recruitment for both Texas and Oklahoma |
Their choice |
Same as kids entering the portal |
Great |
It is good for those two schools. I think it could dis-band the Big XII |
Dont like it |
It's a bad sign for the direction of college football |
Politics and ESPN |
For the state of Texas I hate it. I wish we could go back to an old Southwest Conference |
don't like |
Great for Texas HS Football kids |
Good for the state |
Tougher road to CFP |
was inevitable, Money talks and BS walks... It will cause a greater divide between the have's and have not's. Also, NIL, and portal will play a huge role in this, smaller schools won't be able to compete, kids will go where the can be paid the most by boosters and once you become a star at a UofH or LaTech, you will be able to bounce over to LSU or Texas for a higher price. It's about to turn into the wild west. |
I think it’s selfish and based on nothing but money. |
OU.... chance to get into the playoff and not play the SEC.... UT--- continue to be average |
Not interested |
Think they have to in order to have a chance at a national championship and get 5 star recruits |
Dumb for Texas. They won’t win |
Disappointed but get it. The game is changing |
neutral |
One bad game in the SEC and you are done. |
No Opinion |
Bad for college football |
Good for them |
Don't Care |
I think it’s selfish and based on nothing but money. |
I like it. |
I like it |
I wish we had the SWC and keep High school recruits in state. |
none |
Everything comes back to money. Everything. |
chase $ |
Not good for Texas football as a whole |
It is what it is |
I HATE IT!!! |
Not any |
Beginning of super conferences and diminishing of the NCAA power |
Money talks |
Hate it |
Don't matter |
Don't care |
Hate it |
No thoughts |
It was bound to happen, they were carrying the whole conference. |
Its all about the money |
Will be nice to see them compete with other schools. |
great |
Cool |
Disappointed but understand |
Bad move. |
Be careful what you wish for! |
Let's Go - A&M v Texas again |
Great |
Good for them |
It’s all about the $$$. |
None |
Bull crap |
Good for them |
No opinion |
Bad for college football and we are going to lose all of the texas regional matchups |
I don't think it is good for the big 12 to break apart |
Don't like it |
Great move. |
Who cares |
will hurt big 12 |
good for them |
Annoying |
Good for them |
It's all about the money. |
Don't like the "conference hopping" but the cat is already out of the bag. |
Its not good for the rest of the Texas schools |
Hate it |
Love it |
Texas ruined the BIG12 with the Longhorn network and high tailed it to the SEC. |
I’m happy that Texas A&M and UT will play again but I think it will change major college football greatly into bigger super conferences. |
$ |
I think it comes down to Money |
Not surprised |
It's just part of the world we are living in now. |
Great move! |
Happy |
Good for them |
Don't like it - wanted the Big 12 to stay BIG, but money has destroyed it |
Better competition |
Not surprised. Excited to see what happens within the SEC. |
Follow the money---It is all about the money |
It will change the college landscape. The rich will get richer and the poor will stay poor. |
Kills the Big 12 |
Not good |
One constant is change- I miss the SWC |
Don't like it! |
Great for Texas and Oklahoma and great for college football fans. |
none could care less |
Terrible, we need those schools to stay in the conference. Texas can't compete in the SEC |
The Big 12 may be about to become irrelevant. |
NA |
Was only a matter of time |
Don't have one |
Don't like it. |
Cool |
Bad for the game |
It was just a matter of time. Money talks. |
I think it's great. |
Finally got as smart as the Aggies |
Sucks |
Go to the SEC |
Should go ahead and just eliminate conferences all together, because all relevant teams are going to be in the same conference anyway. |
I love it. The Big 12 has turned into a basketball conference priority. They have abandoned football. |
Love it |
Good for them. Doesn’t make much sense from a competitive nature for Texas. They are having a hard time winning in Big 12. |
Not good for the state. |
I would like them to create and develop the old Southwest Conference |
They are SOFT |
Think it's a great move. |
DON'T CARE |
Not a huge fan of it, but it is inevitable |
its ok |
I will miss the Big 12 but I get it. It's a good move for them and It'll be good football. |
idc |
I do not think it is good for the Big 12 but I understand why they did. |
Hate it |
