It’s the annual Bird Bowl in Harlingen and for the first time in a few years folks at Harlingen South think the Hawks have a shot to challenge their older brothers in Harlingen High.
South is off to a roaring 4-0 start behind new head coach Israel Gonzalez, a Harlingen alum and former assistant under long-time Harlingen HC Manny Gomez. Last week the Hawks rolled past Brownsville Hanna 41-12 behind RB Jeremiah Rivera, who ran for two touchdowns and had a touchdown reception as well for the Hawks.
