Recruit Q&A: Texas commit, Denton Ryan cornerback Austin Jordan

Austin Jordan pledged to Texas and Steve Sarkisian back in July, roughly six months after helping Denton Ryan win the Class 5A Division I title and Sarkisian becoming the head man for the Longhorns. It is a commitment that almost didn’t happen. Not because Jordan almost picked one of his other 20 or so FBS offers, but because an injury almost caused Jordan to give up football.

Jordan tore his hip flexor as a track athlete earlier in his high school career and, according to the four-star cornerback, those months of recovery put him in a dark place. Jordan recovered, physically and mentally, to emerge as one of the best cornerbacks in the nation. The 6-0, 190-pound Jordan is a national top-200 prospect in the 2022 class.
