The Follow Through: Week 2 wasn't kind to ranked teams
Week 2 of the Texas high school football season wasn't kind to ranked teams as programs like Texarkana Pleasant Grove, Graham, Waco Connally and Celina all lost.
When the dust settled from Friday night’s action, 22 of the 80 teams ranked between 4A-1 and 1A-2 took losses. Some don’t qualify as upsets – 11 losses came to teams that are ranked and/or play in higher classifications – but those losses meant extra work for the voters as they submit their newest rankings.
The only class to make it through the weekend unscathed? 1A-2, where Balmorhea, Jayton, Strawn, Blackwell, Motley County and Oakwood all found the win column.
