Reports: Houston to hire West Virginia coach Dana Holgorsen
The Cougars managed to yank a coach away from the Power Five level to replace Major Applewhite.
Houston football will hire West Virginia coach Dana Holgorsen to the same position, according to multiple reports. Holgorsen will sign a five-year, $20 million contract that will make him the highest-paid coach in Group of Five history, according to SB Nation.
The Cougars suddenly fired head coach Major Applewhite on Sunday after just two seasons as the head coach. Applewhite was promoted from offensive coordinator after Tom Herman left to take the Texas job, but compiled just a 15-11 record in two seasons.
