DCTF's TXHSFB Insider Looks at News and Notes from the 2018 UIL State Football Championships
The Grand Finale
In a game that we all felt would be an instant classic Galena Park North Shore and Duncanville lived up to the hype and then some, as the Mustangs took home the 6A Division I state title with an incredible 41-36 win over Duncanville. Trailing 36-35 with three seconds left in the game at the Duncanville 45-yard line, North Shore sophomore quarterback Dematrius Davis and senior WR AJ Carter etched their names in TXHSFB lore with a Hail Mary touchdown in the corner of the end zone to give the Mustangs their third state title in school history. It was a fitting ending to a game that featured the best team in Houston taking on the best team in Dallas, with over 30 potential FBS recruits on the field, in front of over 42,000 fans and featured a buzz that a title game had not generated in quite some time. Don’t be surprised if both of these two teams are back in the mix in 2019 as both of these teams have youth all over the field.
