New Texas Tech head coach Matt Wells to retain both coordinators from Utah State
Broyles Award finalist David Yost is part of a package deal heading to Lubbock.
New Texas Tech coach Matt Wells will bring both of his coordinators from Utah State to Lubbock, the university confirmed on Thursday night. Offensive coordinator David Yost and defensive coordinator Keith Patterson will both be on Wells’ staff.
Yost is a familiar face for Big 12 fans. The second-year Wells assistant was quarterback coach at Missouri from 2001 to 2008, and offensive coordinator from 2009-2012. He helped develop Blaine Gabbert, Chase Daniel and Brad Smith into all-conference players in the Big 12.
