Memphis 28, SMU 18: Sonny Dykes' gambles don't pay off in disappointing loss
The Mustangs took several chances against a potent Tigers squad, but not enough paid off in a surprising defensive struggle.
UNIVERSITY PARK -- SMU football started the year 0-3 with brutal losses against North Texas, TCU and Michigan. But if the Mustangs beat Memphis on Friday night – in front of their home crowd on senior night, no less – they could all but clinch a miraculous division title.
