Beaumont West Brook (6-1, 4-0) at Galena Park North Shore (7-0, 4-0):
Can the juggernaut that is the North Shore Mustangs be slowed down? If there’s anyone that can do it in District 21-6A it’s 6-1 Beaumont West Brook as the district title appears to be on the line Friday evening in Galena Park. West Brook rolled past La Porte 44-6 a week ago as QB La’Ravien Elia accounted for three touchdowns and 190 yards of offense. Elia will need maybe the best game of his decorated career this week against a loaded North Shore defense that has allowed just 40 points in seven games (21 of those were by Katy in the season opener).
North Shore ripped past Baytown Sterling 63-3 last week as QB Dematrius Davis threw just eight passes, completing six with five going for touchdowns. Five-star recruit RB Zach Evans only had four touches in the win and for the most part due to North Shore’s lopsided results, he hasn’t had a real heavy workload. Expect him to see the most action he’s seen, probably since the season opener as West Brook is at least capable of pushing this North Shore team. However, North Shore right now looks like a team on a mission to play in Arlington and it may be a while before they get a big test.
Stepp’s Pick: Galena Park North Shore by 21
