UTEP football: Miners fall short in final seconds against Louisiana Tech

The Miners were just eight yards away from potentially pulling off an upset against Louisiana Tech, but fell 31-24 in the final seconds in Ruston, LA.

Third string quarterback Brandon Jones, who came in after Ryan Metz was knocked out of the game, marched the Miners 31 yards to inside the Bulldogs’ eight-yard line. LA Tech pass rusher Jaylon Ferguson sacked Jones for a 12-yard loss on the next play, creating a 4th-and-goal situation for the Miners. Jones’ pass sailed out of reach and LA Tech ran out the clock in the final seconds to hold onto the win.
