DCTF'S HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL INSIDER LOOKS BACK AT THE 15 BEST PLAYOFF GAMES HE'S WITNESSED IN PERSON

- Southlake Carroll-Trinity 2006 5A Division I Area Playoffs: One of the most iconic games in the history of Texas High School Football featured it all, two unbeaten teams, defending state champions, a massive crowd and big plays galore. The game had an announced attendance of over 46,000 but most who covered the game (self-included) believe there were over 60,000 in the stadium by the fourth quarter as thousands of fans were stuck in traffic jams outside of the stadium. Trinity took a late 21-16 lead on a long touchdown run, but Southlake Carroll’s defense came up with the play of the game stopping a Trinity fake punt on 4th and 3 late in the game. SLC took advantage of the great field position and Riley Dodge scored a two yard touchdown run with 37 seconds left to win 22-21. The Dragons would go on to a state title, they didn’t play another game closer than two touchdowns the rest of the playoffs.
