Here are a few Thursday night games to monitor. Rowlett at Lakeview Centennial Two playoff-bound programs square off in District 10-6A. Both programs are looking up towards Sachse for a district title, but 3-1 district records have each squad solidified into the postseason. Rowlett is coming off its lone loss of the season, a 33-7 home loss against Sachse. It was the first time the Eagles failed to score 20 points in a game. It was only their second time this season to allow more than 30 points. Lakeview Centennial started the season with a loss to Waxahachie before going on a four-game winning streak that was disrupted with a loss at Sachse. The Patriots enter the contest on a two-game winning streak. Austin LBJ at Austin Travis Austin LBJ is the class of District 26-5A. The Jaguars are 7-1 on the season with a perfect 4-0 district record. LBJ’s lone loss of the season was against Class 6A Bowie. LBJ hit a groove once district play began, outscoring its four opponents 158-21 over the past month. A playoff spot is guaranteed and LBJ is hoping a playoff run is possible in a new-look Region IV. Travis has hopes of sneaking into the playoffs with a 2-2 district record heading into this game. An upset win would place the Rebels in the driver’s seat for one of the final two spots, but a loss sets up a win-or-offseason-starts showdown with Austin High next week. Arlington Bowie at Mansfield Mansfield can clinch the District 4-6A championship with a home victory over a surprising Arlington Bowie team. Mansfield enters the game as the favorite with a 5-0 district record that includes a 47-28 victory over preseason district favorite Arlington Martin. The Tigers lost non-district tilts against Cedar Hill and Marcus in back-to-back weeks before beginning the current five-game winning-streak. Bowie wasn’t predicted to make the playoffs, yet sits at 4-1 in district with a chance to share a district crown. Bowie’s lone loss this season was a district game against Arlington. The Volunteers won three of their four district victories by six points or fewer. Fort Bend Travis at Fort Bend Hightower This is a game Fort Bend Hightower needs to win to secure a playoff bid. Travis is in the clear with a 4-1 district record, but Hightower sits at 3-2 with two other foes entering this week’s slate of games. Hightower is 4-4 on the season and clinging to playoff hopes. But with Ridge Point looming next week, this might be the Hurricanes’ last real shot at a district win. Travis’ district loss came to Ridge Point and will advance to the playoffs out of District 20-6A.
