All teams are now in district play, so the playoff picture is becoming more clear. Some districts seem to be going as expected, while others are giving us some surprises. 1. Borden County at Ira was the biggest game this week. I expected a good game, but the Coyotes were too much for Ira. They took control early, and didn't look back — beating a great Ira team 54-0 and reminding everyone why they have been in the top 10 all season. 2. Most preseason predictions had May as the 3rd place team in District 11-1A Division I, but Craig Steele and the Tigers are proving everyone wrong. May moved to 8-0 after an impressive 59-14 win over Gorman, and have suddenly become the favorite for the district title. 3. In another District 11-1A DI game, Gordon was a 45-point favorite, but struggled with Lingleville. With a 50-48 final it will go in Gordon's win column, but raises doubts about the Longhorns' ability to earn a playoff spot. 4. Balmorhea continued their winning ways, moving to 8-0 with a mercy rule victory over Sanderson. I've had the Bears in the top 5 all season, and I don't expect a big change anytime soon. Don't be surprised to see them playing at AT&T Stadium on December 14. 5. The Petersburg Buffaloes are looking for their 1st playoff appearance since 2012, and their 65-50 win over perennial powerhouse Motley County should have the Buffs motivated to keep pushing harder. 6. Jonesboro hasn't gotten much attention this season, but they remain undefeated and continue to steamroll their opponents. Their only full game was in week 2 against state-ranked Milford. I may look foolish later, but I believe the Eagles will be playing for the Division I title. Cowboy's Top 5DIVISION I 1. Happy 2. Jonesboro 3. Borden County 4. Sterling City 5. Zephyr DIVISION II 1. Richland Springs 2. Calvert 3. Balmorhea 4. Milford 5. Crowell
