HAVING TROUBLE DECIDING WHICH GAME TO SEE ON FRIDAY NIGHT? EVERY WEEK, DCTF SENIOR WRITER MIKE CRAVEN WILL PICK OUT A CAN'T MISS SHOWDOWN IN EVERY CLASS.

The must-see high school games around the state during Week 6

Here is where I’d want to be tonight. Class 6A: Euless Trinity at Southlake Carroll Two top-10 Class 6A programs battle when Trinity rolls into Southlake Carroll. The Dragons are at home and on a three-game winning-streak following a season-opening loss to Tulsa Union. Southlake Carroll righted the ship over the past three weeks, knocking off Arlington Martin, Rockwall and Flower Mound. Trinity is undefeated and the favorite to win District 5-6A. The Trojans won their matchup against a prep team from Oklahoma before ripping off wins against Westfield, Heritage and Lewisville. With both offenses capable of points, this game should come down to a turnover or a mistake late in the game. Class 5A: Temple at A&M Consolidated Temple entered the season ranked in the top 5 in Class 5A. The Wildcats were expected to be one of numerous Region III contenders, and they might still be with a strong run through district play. Temple beat Belton and Round Rock to start the season before hitting speed bumps against Waco Midway and Cedar Ridge, the latter being a Class 6A contender. A&M Consolidated doesn’t boast a high-powered offense, but head coach David Raffield field’s a strong defense led by defensive back Tyon Merchant and a foursome of productive linebackers. Class 4A: Henderson at Carthage If I could be anywhere in the state tonight, it’d be in Carthage. And not just for the famous press box popcorn, either. Two undefeated state championship contenders square off in a pivotal District 7-4A D1 contest. Henderson enters the game at 5-0 and ranked No. 6 in our rankings. Through five games, the Lions are outscoring opponents by an average of 48.2 to 15. Carthage had its opener cancelled due to lightning, but sits at 3-0 and is ranked second in the state. The Bulldogs had an open week to prepare and last time out beat Gilmer by 18 points. Class 3A: Cameron Yoe at Franklin This isn’t the same Cameron Yoe team we watched fall short of another state championship last season due to an injury in the state title game, but the Yoemen can still contend. After a humbling loss to China Spring, Yoe bounced back with a win over McGregor. Franklin is undefeated and poised to win a district championship. The Lions already hold impressive wins over Navasota and Waco Connally. Class 2A: Iraan at Sonora It should be clear by this point in the season that I’m a sucker for clashes between classes. With most schools off or at least beginning district play, we’re running out of opportunities in 2016. In this game, Class 2A powerhouse Iraan travels to Class 3A Sonora. Both teams are undefeated entering the game with Iraan already showing the ability to beat bigger programs this season and Sonora led by Week 4 Mr. Texas Football quarterback Kaden Cordell.
