Denton vs. Keller Timber Creek One team moves to 4-0 in this showdown. A win for Keller Timber Creek resides on the arm of quarterback Cade Shrader, who is averaging 332 yards per game through the air. Timber Creek can match its record for most wins in a season with a victory tonight over Class 5A Denton. Running back Caleb Osuofa accounted for 200 yards of total offense in a six-point win over The Colony. Belton vs. Round Rock Both teams enter the game 2-1. This is undoubtedly the Austin-area’s best game on Thursday. Round Rock’s lone loss came to state-ranked Temple before the Dragons rebounded with an impressive win over Smithson Valley in Week 3. Bob Shipley’s Belton Tigers also fell to Temple in non-district play. Belton beat future Round Rock district opponents Hendrickson and Stony Point in Week 2 and 3, respectfully. Cypress Springs vs. Cypress Fair The wheels fell off for head coach Rick Cobia’s team last year once district play started. Springs went 2-0 in non-district before a blowout loss to Cypress Fair started a stretch that ended with Springs losing seven of its final eight games. A chance for redemption and to show improvement takes place against the same Cypress Fair team that won the game in 2015 and eventually reached the playoffs. Harker Heights vs. Vandegrift Killeen Harker Heights is off to a 2-1 start and could earn its biggest victory in years with a non-district upset over Class 6A Vandegrift. Harker Heights started 2-0 with wins over Elgin and McNeil before falling to Waco last week. Vandegrift blew a three-score lead in the opener against Odessa Permian and then were shutout by Cedar Park. The Vipers beat Killeen last week and could use momentum heading into a district clash against Westlake next week. Somerset vs. Boerne If you’re looking for a small-school game, this one is probably your best bet on a Thursday. Boerne enters the game at 2-1, while Somerset is a perfect 3-0. The Greyhounds are coming off a two-point loss to Holy Cross last week, but began the season with victories over Devine and Medina Valley. Somerset escaped with a one-point victory over Brackenridge in Week 1 before cruising to victories against San Antonio Houston and McCollum.
