Sachse at Mesquite Sachse was on this Thursday watch-list last week and returns after a two-touchdown win over Plano West. The Mustangs kicked off the season with a thrilling overtime victory over Byron Nelson. Quarterback Jalen Mayden is on a tear to start the season and will be one of the most highly-recruited signal callers in the 2018 class. Mesquite also enters 2-0 and both programs have scored more than 30 points in each game this season. Denton Ryan vs. Wylie East Denton Ryan entered the season as the clear Class 5A favorite after making a run as a 6A program in 2015. Ryan returned a lot of talent, but hasn’t exactly blown the doors off of competition through two games. The Raiders struggled early against Lancaster and only scored 24 in a win over Poteet. Wylie East will provide Denton Ryan with a test. Eno Benjamin and co. scored 49 points in a shutout win over Hallsville last week and beat Rockwall-Heath to start the season. EP Chapin vs. EP Pebble Hills Out in El Paso, District 1-5A favorite Chapin plays a bigger classification program after passing early tests against Bel Air and Eastlake. Chapin is 2-0, allowing 14 points through two games. Pebble Hills enters the contest 1-1 after falling by eight points to El Paso Andress in Week 2. Andress figures to be Chapin’s biggest challenger once district play starts, so it is a good barometer game against a like opponent. CC King vs. CC Calallen Head coach Phil Danaher and the Wildcats want to get back in the winning column after falling last week to a bigger San Antonio Johnson program. Calallen started the season with a convincing win over Mercedes, backing up lofty expectations for the future Class 5A Division II Region IV favorite. Standing in the way of some needed momentum is Corpus Christi King. Both schools enter the game 1-1 on the season.
