2016 Region Outlooks: 2A DII Region IV – Bremond's exit opens things up

The UIL realigned the districts for the 2016 and 2017 football seasons in February. Realignment doesn’t just change district races – championships can be decided with new groupings competing once the playoffs begin. We’ll take a closer look at the frontrunners in each region throughout the spring doldrums.Previous Outlooks:6A Region I / 6A Region II / 6A Region III / 6A Region IV / 5A Region I / 5A Region II / 5A Region III / 5A Region IV / 4A DI Region I / 4A DI Region II / 4A DI Region III / 4A DI Region IV / 4A DII Region I / 4A DII Region II / 4A DII Region III / 4A DII Region IV / 3A DI Region I / 3A DI Region II / 3A DI Region III / 3A DI Region IV / 3A DII Region I / 3A DII Region II / 3A DII Region III / 3A DII Region IV / 2A DI Region I / 2A DI Region II / 2A DI Region III / 2A DI Region IV / 2A DII Region I / 2A DII Region II / 2A DII Region IIIClass 2A Division II Region IV The state championship no longer runs through Region IV. Bremond, the two-time defending Class 2A Division II champions, were moved into Region III in the latest realignment. This opens up Region IV for new champions. A talented group of teams were overlooked for the past two seasons thanks to the dominance of Burton. The winner of Region IV likely faces Bremond in the state semifinals. Bremond knocked off Bruni, 54-13, in the Region IV finals last season. Bruni, along with programs like Falls City, La Pryor and Granger hope the absence of a true favorite means opportunity in 2016. Bruni BruniEach of the last two seasons, Bruni lost to Bremond deep into the state playoffs. The Badgers lost to Bremond in the third round of the playoffs in 2014, falling in the regional championship round last season. Bruni’s only other loss on the season was a two-point non-district loss to Yorktown. Bruni won District 16 in front of Woodsboro and then beat Leakey, Louise and Yorktown in a rematch from a game earlier in the season. No Bremond makes Bruni one of the favorites to claim a Region IV championship, but it must first navigate through District 16. Falls CityFallsCityThe Beavers were undefeated and riding a two-game playoff winning streak when a third-round contest against Bremond took place. The eventual state and Region IV champion was too much for Falls City, winning 41-14. Falls City beat Burton and D’Hanis to reach the third round. The Beavers went a perfect 10-0 in the regular season, claiming a District 14 title by beating Yorktown in October. The Beavers move to District 15, switching places with defending champion La Pryor. Yorktown moved up to Class 2A Division I, leaving the door pretty open for a district title.   La Pryor LaPryorLa Pryor went 10-0 in the regular season, even winning the District 15 championship. The season ended quickly in the playoffs, however, as Yorktown knocked off the Bulldogs in the area round of the state playoffs. The Bulldogs' offense scored at least 30 points in all 11 victories prior to the playoff loss to Yorktown, a program now in Division I. La Pryor switches district with Falls City, making the Bulldogs the favorite to win District 14 in 2016.
