Greatest Texas high school football player: Sweet 16, Region 2
We love March Madness, but we also miss football, so we decided to go big and create an entertaining bracket of our own.

TXHSFBMarchMadnessWelcome to the D.W. Rutledge region, named after the legendary Converse Judson coach. This region is led by the Sugar Land Express himself, Kenneth Hall. A prolific offensive player that came long before they were the norm. Many of his rushing records still stack up to this day, but he's got serious challengers in this group. Happy voting! No. 1 Kenneth Hall (Sugar Land, 1950-1953) The legendary “Sugar Land Express” had a career from 1950-1953 that has stood the test of time — he still holds the state record for career rushing yards (11,232 yards) and single-season rushing yards (4,045 in 1953). Eliminated: Hunter Lile, Mike Singletary.No. 5 Jordan Shipley (Burnet, 2000-2003) One of the most decorated receivers in state history, the Burnet star is all over the state record books — his 73 touchdown catches from 2000-03 rank second all-time, and he’s still the state’s all-time leader in receiving yards with 5,424. Eliminated: Quan Cosby, Drew Brees. [poll id="84"] No. 3 Garrett Gilbert (Lake Travis, 2006-2009) The triggerman for Lake Travis’ magical run in the late 2000s, he’s third all-time in career passing yards (12,534) and owns two of the top four all-time top passing seasons (4,854 in 2008, 4,827 in 2007). He’s also fifth all-time in career passing touchdowns with 137. Eliminated: Gary Kubiak, Doak Walker. No. 2 Adrian Peterson (Palestine, 2001-2004) Most people know him as an NFL rushing champion or a standout at Oklahoma, but his career at Palestine — 5,011 yards, 54 touchdowns from 2002-2003 — was what first put him on the map. Eliminated: Jared Reagan, Tren'Davian Dickson. [poll id="85"] NEXT REGION:Pete Shotwell (Region 3)
