Morning Jolt (Oct. 6): Blowout bonanza! A look at the HS teams with the biggest margin of victory
A look at the teams that are winning by the biggest margins in Texas high school football.

This is the Morning Jolt, your invitation to get up and start thinking about football. We're through six weeks of the 2015 Texas high school football season — yes, the regular season is more than halfway done — and blowouts are on the rise. Already this year, we've had 16 games decided by 70 points or more, including a 90-0 game (Dallas Bishop Dunne's win over Dallas Roosevelt). Of course, the coaches are not entirely to blame for blowouts, as The Dallas Morning News' Matt Wixon so aptly pointed out last week. But there are teams that are just really, really adept at laying the lumber to their opponents. How so? Below is a chart that represents the teams with the highest margin of victory in the state — in short: the number of points scored minus the number of points allowed, divided by the number of games played. On a week-to-week basis, these have been the most dominant teams in the state, at least on the scoreboard. Please note: this includes only 11-man teams, as 6-man teams are subject to the 45-point mercy rule. MOV
