Morning Jolt (Aug. 25): Get to know Prepa Tec, Texas' football friends to the south

Prepa-TecThis is the Morning Jolt, TexasFootball.com’s wake-up call to get up and start thinking about football. I'll never forget in 2012, when the headlines blared across Texas: "No. 1 Stephenville stunned by team from Mexico." The next year, it nearly happened again, with the Yellow Jackets escaping with a 17-16 victory. That Mexican team — Monterrey Prepa Tec — is a powerhouse in their native land, winner of a dozen national championships. And so it's no surprise that every once in a while, when they travel up to the Lone Star State, they take down some giants of Texas high school football. A couple of years ago, Sports Illustrated did a terrific vignette about the Borregos, and it's certainly worth your time. I'm having trouble finding Prepa Tec's 2015 schedule, but one thing's for sure: if the Borregos come back to Texas this year, they'll be welcomed with open arms.
