Morning Jolt (Aug. 21): Watch the epic Marshall-Converse Judson title game from 1990

This is the Morning Jolt, TexasFootball.com’s wake-up call to get up and start thinking about football. We're a week away from the kickoff of Texas high school football season, so why not start the weekend (and make no mistake: Friday morning is the start of the weekend) with a classic Texas high school football game? Today, we bring you highlights from the legendary 1990 Class 5A "large school" state championship game between Marshall and Converse Judson. The game drips with storylines — Marshall coach Dennis Parker and Judson coach D.W. Rutledge were longtime colleagues and friends, now at the helm of two of the more legendary programs in Texas high school football. And the game lived up to the hype, with Marshall taking a 15-3 halftime lead and just barely holding off a furious Judson rally to take home the 21-19 state championship win at the Astrodome. Enjoy this gem from the Texas high school football vault.
