This is the Morning Jolt, TexasFootball.com’s wake-up call to get up and start thinking about football. If you ever needed confirmation that the Internet is a beautiful thing, behold: the 1980 Class 5A Texas high school football state championship game between Odessa Permian and Port Arthur Jefferson. The game is legendary out in West Texas — Permian falls behind 19-7 at halftime, only to storm back for a staggering 28-19 win, holding the most explosive offense in the state scoreless in the second half — and there's so much 80s goodness here. Texas Stadium is electric for this one, and the footage is pure, fantastic Texas high school football. Do yourself a favor and spend a couple minutes watching this game, even if you can't watch the whole thing. It's Texas high school football at its finest.
