Though the timeframe is still up in the air, it would appear Texas A&M is again on the verge of leaving the Big 12. The Fort-Worth Star Telegram did the initial reporting, and by Sunday morning, everyone else had picked up on it. While the headlines tend to paint a picture of the Aggies taking their ball and running for the SEC immediately — by week's end seemed to be the prevailing opinion — only one Big 12 board member said it could be that quick. Don’t forget, we’ve been here before, and all the talking heads that were sure it was a done deal a few weeks back were wrong when the SEC stated it was happy staying pat at 12. I, for one, didn’t think it was the end of the discussion, but was still shocked to see it could become news so soon.
