Depending on your audience, the name Phil Bennett will elicit a variety of responses. Texas A&M fans will give him the Gig ‘Em (he was, after all, a defensive end for the Aggies from 1979-81, and served as their defensive coordinator for two good-not-great seasons). SMU fans will probably just stare at you (Bennett went 18-52 at the helm of an admittedly ailing Mustangs program). And Kansas State fans will probably try to kiss you (Bennett was the defensive coordinator from 1999-2001, and the Wildcats had a top three defense every year).
