Moving on-deck

By Greg Tepper // TexasFootball.com

Recruiting doesn't have an offseason. When you wrap up one class, as the great philosopher Jay-Z once said, it's on to the next one.

And so the 2012 pledges continue to roll in. Though nothing can be official until National Signing Day -- Feb. 1, 2012, only 329 days away -- that doesn't stop some of the state's best players from pledging their allegiance.

We've already seen some big names come off the board, like Stephenville RB/DB Aiavion Edwards (Baylor), El Campo DT Joey Hunt (TCU), Denton Ryan LB Alex De La Torre (Texas), SA Reagan QB Trevor Knight (Texas A&M) and Houston Westbury OL Christian Okafor (Texas Tech).

Who else could make their pledge soon? (And no, I'm not including players like Aledo RB Johnathan Gray, whom I expect to take his time with the decision.)

Pearland Dawson OL Kennedy Estelle

The 6-7, 292-pound meast of a tackle (that's half-man, half-beast) has garnered interest from all over, including national champs Auburn, tradition-laden USC and basically every school in the great Southwest.

Hendrickson DE Kingsley Ike

The star bookend might not commit until later in the summer -- he's got interest from schools like SMU, A&M and Kansas State -- but he's certainly one to keep an eye on.

New Braunfels DB Dustin Oelsen

He's a bit undersized -- 6-1, 176 pounds -- but his outstanding decision-making and hard hitting has drawn interest from both Southwest Conference rivals Arkansas and Baylor, among others.

Plano West DE Bryce Cottrell

Notching 80 tackles and 5 sacks as a junior will get you noticed, and that's what has happened for the 6-3, 230-pound LB/DE hybrid, who reportedly has offers from Baylor and Mississippi State.

Lake Travis ATH Colin Lagasse

Call it a hunch, but I think we see a decision soon from the guy who pretty much did it all last year for the Cavaliers (517 yards, 8 TDs rushing; 529 yards, 5 TDs receiving; 38 tackles (5 for loss) and a sack on defense.
