Texas 24, Texas Tech 14

Notes: The Longhorns took care of business in Lubbock, playing well enough to escape with a 10-point victory. But Texas still hasn't looked like a national championship contender so far this season, and the offensive question marks still don't have good answers. Though it wasn't entirely his fault, QB Garrett Gilbert threw his first three interceptions of the season -- that can't happen when the 'Horns are playing Top-10 teams like OU and Nebraska. None of the running backs has yet to distinguish himself. The best receiver appears to be true freshman Mike Davis. Fortunately, the Longhorns' defense is tremendous and will keep them in ballgames all year. Holding Tech to 144 total yards (minus-14 rushing) is a significant accomplishment. But at some point, the offense will have to make more big plays to win the remaining big games. – Dennis Hall
