Pleasanton's Joshua Ward was named the Outstanding Overall performer at Randy Rodgers' 10th Annual Lone Star Kicking Challenge in Austin. Ward was the only kicker to place in the top 10 in all three events (kickoff, field goal and punt) and also took home the gold medal in the kickoff competition. Holliday's Bryce Davis was second overall and Alamo heights' Kristian Stern was third. Boerne Champion freshman Clayton Hatfield was the top underclassman (freshmen/sophomores).
Ward won the kickoff competition in a kickoff with Rockwall-Heath's Trevor Pinkston. Ward had finished eight in the preliminary round, but upset top seed Michael Shroble of Klein Oak in the finals. Shroble won the bronze medal while sophomore Taylor Knopf of Beorne was the top underclassman.
