Cowboys Stadium will play host to the 2010 UIL football state championships for Classes 5A, 4A and 3A, according to a UIL release.
The Class 5A title games will take place on Saturday, Dec. 18, along with the 4A-DI title game. The 4A-DI game kicks off at noon, followed by the 5A-DII game at 4 p.m. and the 5A-DI game at 8 p.m.
The 4A-DII title game will take place at 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 17, immediately following the 3A-DII title game (4 p.m. kickoff). The 3A-DI title game takes place a week earlier, at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 10.
The remaining title games are being split between Abilene’s Shotwell Stadium and Mansfield’s Newsom Stadium.
This is the first year the UIL has pre-determined state championship sites for all football classes. By having games at centralized sites, it will be easier to televise more games.
The UIL plans to rotate sites among Cowboys Stadium, Houston’s Reliant Stadium and San Antonio’s Alamodome.
“We’re excited about hosting great high school football games at some of the premiere venues in the state,” said UIL director of athletics Cliff Odenwald said in a news release.
