SWITCHES ALL OVER TEXAS (1/25/09)
Considering how close we were getting to Signing Day last week, I would have expected a little more action from the ten in-state programs that dominate the headlines these days. Looks like they made up for the inactivity over the weekend.

This past weekend was surely the busiest recruiting weekend of the calendar year, and all but three of our FBS programs made a substantial move -- and a number of them were feeding off of each other. Baylor, for example, snapped up TTU recruit Sulphur Springs DL Kedrick Dial, who had been looking for a new pledge after Mike Leach was fired, and, later, Ruffin McNeill went to East Carolina. That's a key loss for the Raiders and a big pickup for the Bears -- Dial is one of the top ten defensive ends in Texas and has the athletic versatility to play a little inside if needed. Baylor also got Jefferson's Clarence Lee from Houston -- Lee is a long, lanky kid with the hybrid frame to grow into a defensive end of settle at outside linebacker. He's a bit more raw than Dial, but he could impact down the road. And even then, Baylor wasn't done -- it also roped in Henderson dual-threat QB Tyrell Jenkins, making him the only QB pledge for the Bears in the 2010 class. It's about time ... I was wondering if that was something they would target eventually. More on Jenkins later this week.
