ByTravis Stewart/Texas Football -- Sedrick Flowers to UT
The one thing UT fans seemed to crave recruiting-wise this season was a big, powerful offensive lineman who can serve as the group's anchor for the forseeable future. Recently, A&M had been getting most of the state's elite. But this year, Texas finally struck gold -- Sedrick Flowers, the Galena Park North Shore talent who could play either tackle or guard at the college level. Flowers' pledge means Texas now has 15 commitments (easily the most in the country) and, depending on who you ask, four of the state's top five players. I feel like a broken record talking about it all the time ... but, I mean, come on. It just never ends.
Tyrik Rollison "MOVING ON"
Remember Tyrik Rollison? The prolific pro-style quarterback that guided Sulphur Springs to a 4A DII title in 2008? Well, one of the last kids in Texas (and the nation's top 100) to settle on a school last February is one of the first to have to transfer, and the kid that some fans were hailing as the next Jason Campbell is likely moving to Sam Houston State at the end of the spring semester. Despite his suspension earlier in the season, Rollison's move appears to be focused more on the addition of Cam Newton, the Blinn quarterback who signed with great expectation in the most recent class. He appears to be the heir apparent, meaning Rollison would have to wait a few years to start. Instead, he takes SHSU -- the Rhett Bomar route. At least now I can drive to see him play!
