Weekend Review: Class 1A first round features upset of title favorite

No need to trick this segment up -- Texas' high school playoffs games need no introduction. Here were some of the first round's best. Have a question, comment, or addition? We can't read every game story, so email us your thoughts.

The 1A Weekend in Review Collinsville 56, Quinlan Boles 21
There was no way that 5-5 Collinsville could keep pace with 10-0 Quinlan Boles. Certainly no way that Collinsville could emerge with a victory. Unless … well, unless Boles gave Collinsville some help along the way. A couple of turnovers can give a team a lot of momentum, and that’s exactly what happened in this game. Boles quarterback Kailob Wallace, one of 1A’s best players, fumbled twice in the first four minutes, and Collinsville turned them both into touchdowns. And a Boles punt snap also was fumbled, leading to a third Collinsville TD. Before you knew it, it was 21-0 Collinsville. There was still plenty of time for Boles to mount a comeback, but its confidence was shaken and Collinsville was inspired. And so a 21-point lead turned into a 35-point shellacking that nobody could have predicted prior to Friday night. It was arguably the state’s biggest first-round shocker in any classification.
