Waco High's Kollin Kahler wins Randy Rodgers' Lone Star Kicking Challenge

Waco High’s Kollin Kahler can now proudly claim that he's got one of the top legs in the state. Maybe he should get it insured?

Kahler rolled over the competition to take home the gold as the best overall kicker at the 2009 Lone Star Kicking Challenge in Austin. Kahler successfully defended his 2008 punting championship, placed first in the preliminary field goal competition (but eventually settled for a silver medal when his potential competition-winning 55 yarder bounced off the upright), and took fifth in the Kickoff competition. Kahler is just the second player in the nine-year history of the event to win back-to-back punting championships (Kingwood’s Jon Lacour, currently at Texas Tech, was the first), and the first player to win two golds and one silver in the same competition. Frisco Centennial’s Clay Williaford won the overall silver and Kristian Stern of Alamo Heights took the bronze. Players had to compete in all three kicking events to be considered for the all-around title.
