Perhaps no 20-year old recruit is more traveled more than Clarence Ward. He has attended high schools in Texas (La Marque) and Penscola, Florida. He signed with Florida State out of high school (Class of '05), red-shirted before getting released from his scholarship. He then signed with Texas Tech, remained there a year before transferring to Santa Rosa JC in Arizona. Ward hopes his final stop is at UTEP, where he has already enrolled. If he can find stability with the Miners, he might finally lie up to the potential that led Texas Football to name him the 2004 preseason high school defensive player of the year. Ward has two years of eligibility remaining and will compete in spring for a starting spot in the secondary.
