TIGHT ENDSBest on the Board
Let's face it -- the tight end position is near the bottom on the glamour list, and the spread offense so prevalent in today's football often ignores these players. But there are a few gems still out there. The best available seems to be Midlothian's Caleb Russell, a 6-3, 250-pound prospect. Russell is snow-bound this weekend, making an official visit to Air Force.
But despite that offer and others from New Mexico, SMU, and two Louisiana programs (UL-Lafayette and UL-Monroe), Midlothian head coach Robbie Clark said there's a wild card in the picture. "They would take him as a preferred walk-on at Texas A&M," Clark said. "Of course, he's saying no to a lot of DI schools if he decides to do that." Clark said Russell is confident he can play at that level, and the opportunity to prove that might be too much to pass on.
